PND Course – South Auckland

Hadiyyeh Zohoori-Dossa

Hadiyyeh began practising as a nutritionist after graduating with a Masters in Nutrition in 2003. She soon realised that many clients also shared their social, inter-personal and other stress-related problems and would benefit from professional mental health counselling. Hence she pursued her Masters in Counselling and since graduating in 2009, has been utilising a holistic approach.

The many strategies of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Hadiyyeh’s therapeutic specialisation, are very effective in treating the whole person – physical, mental, social and spiritual. Through exploring thoughts, beliefs and assumptions, the client and counsellor together aim to bring about change in emotions and behaviour and to develop skills for effective functioning. She has considerable experience addressing nutrition-related conditions – Obesity, Hypertension, Diabetes, etc. and psycho-social disorders – Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Relationships, Parenting, etc. She works with adolescents, adults, families and groups.

Hadiyyeh’s practise is multi-cultural and inter-faith. Born in Iran, lived in Jamaica and Israel, married to an African and now in New Zealand, her life is an example of crossing boundaries to understand, accept and respect all cultures.
