Maternal Mental Health Group Facilitators
🌸 Vacancy: Clinical Perinatal Support (Contractor Role)
Mothers Helpers has been awarded funding to provide free training and clinical supervision to clinicians who would like to deliver our Maternal Mental Health therapeutic groups in their local area. We currently have vacancies for these roles in the following areas: Far North, Whangarei, Papakura, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Matamata, South Waikato, Waipa District, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Napier/Hastings, Whanganui, Manawatu, Porirua, Wellington.
This offer is open to:
- Social workers
- Counsellors/therapists/psychologists
- Mental health nurses
- Midwives
- Child birth educators
- Plunket nurses
- Occupational Therapists trained in mental health
- Note: We are open to receiving enquiries from third year counselling students and newly qualified counsellors eligible for provisional registration

Provisionally Registered Counsellors
🌸 Vacancy: Provisionally Registered Counsellor – Perinatal Support (Contractor Role)

Location: Remote or Auckland-based (as applicable)
Contract Type: Contractor
Pay Rate: $80 per session for WINZ clients, or lower for those unable to afford standard counselling rates and ineligible for WINZ funding – you can set your own rate and sliding scale with us
About the Role
Mothers Helpers is seeking provisionally registered counsellors who are looking to complete their required practice hours while making a meaningful difference in the lives of women navigating the transition to motherhood.
In this role, you’ll provide counselling support to expecting mothers and mothers of young children experiencing challenges such as perinatal depression and anxiety, or adjustment difficulties related to early parenthood.
This is a contractor position, ideal for counsellors who are compassionate, self-motivated, and committed to supporting maternal mental health in a flexible, supportive environment.
What We’re Looking For
✔ Provisional registration with a recognised counselling body (e.g. NZAC, NZCCA, or equivalent)
✔ A desire to work with mothers during pregnancy and early parenthood
✔ Personal experience of motherhood (preferred but not essential)
✔ Strong empathy, professionalism, and commitment to ethical practice
✔ Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
