Supports for Families in Alert Level 3

May 5, 2020 By motheradmin

Update on some of the family resources available in Level 3

Here is a list of resources of some of the support that is available to mothers and families during Alert Level 3 in New Zealand:

Midwives During Level 3 and the care of women during pregnancy and postnatally
You can keep informed and updated at this link

Mothers Helpers

Mothers Helpers is still making available our 0800 number to any mother that is feeling distressed at this time:  0800-002-717

We also provide free over-the-phone assessments by a registered social worker for all expecting mothers or mothers with children 4yrs or younger – refer here

Our “Preparing for Parenthood” free Antenatal Psychoeducational groups are now full, but you can still refer women to our service and we will provide an over-the-phone free assessment by a registered social worker and referrals for extra support.  Our next group will start in 6-7 weeks.

We still have spaces on our Perinatal Depression Recovery “Out of the Fog” daytime group (the evening group is full) and you can refer women for this course here.  We will start the daytime group when we go into Level 2 – possibly next week or the week after.

Plunket

Online and over-the-phone consultations

Bellyful

Bellyful has again started delivering meals in Level 3, but they are limited with stock and prioritising families most in need, and some location do not have available volunteers for (non-contact) delivery.  When you refer a family more information is available there.

Parents Centres

Parents Centres are running Childbirth Education classes online via Zoom during Level 3

Migrant Action Trust

Offering online job search support workshops, NZ Roadcode refresher and driving test tips during Level 3.

Family Works and Family Start

Receiving referrals and offering online counselling and social work support.

SPACE

SPACE is happening online using Zoom during Level 3.

An update on what support will look like during Level 2 will be posted out either later this week or early next week.

Remember that the 1737 number is 24/7 and you should call them if you urgently need someone to talk to or you feel like you’re in crisis.

Stay well and don’t be afraid to ask for help or support –
